In Croatian water polo is spelled as one word: vaterpolo (direct translation: waterpolo).
Croatians played for the Yugoslavia national water polo team between 1918 and 1991 while Croatian was one of the states in the Yugoslavian federation. Until 1941, the squad of Croatian water polo team Jug from Dubrovnik, a multiple national champion, often represented Yugoslavia on international competitions.
