Water Polo Curriculum
A typical practice program run by the AdriaPolo coaches is designed to improve both the individual player’s skills and the overall team’s game. Individual player’s improved skills and understanding of the game are combined, resulting in the steep increase in overall team’s performance.
Work with individual players
The morning practice session typically focuses on the individual technique and skill improvements. An experienced water polo player (who may or may not be one of the coaches) demonstrates the proper technique or skill, while the coach points out possible improvements to each individual player. The emphasize is on improvements of the technique and specific skills required by a specific position, such us center forward, defense, goal keeping, and so on.
Team practice
Afternoon sessions are typically used for the group and team tactical work, as well as for the actual games, whether played amongst the team players themselves, with addition of the local players joining the practice, or for the actual timed game with one of the local teams.
Visiting other teams
Sometimes the game will be organized in other town or city, creating an opportunity to couple a game of waterpolo with a visit to an interesting place and a possibly a relaxed time with friends. Split, Zagreb and Dubrovnik are not only tourist attractions in the area, but are also strong waterpolo centers and home cities of some of the strongest European club teams.
