AdriaPolo Academy
AdriaPolo Academy offers world-class water polo camps organized in towns and cities along the Croatian Adriatic coast. The academy’s program offers exposure to methods and techniques of some of the best water polo schools in the world, taking the most interesting elements from water polo super-powers of countries and players around the Adriatic: Croatia, Italy, Serbia, Slovenia… even Hungary, whose players are so often seen playing on the Adriatic coast during the summer days.
AdriaPolo Water Polo Academy started in a coastal village of Saint Philip and Jacob (Croatian name: Sv. Filip i Jakov) with a long water polo tradition. Sv. Filip i Jakov is home of the water polo club ‘Gusar’ (meaning a ‘pirat’ in Croatian), established over half a century ago.
The first camp was organized the village’s famous Kontov Mul (Count’s Wharf ) pool in 2001. Count’s Wharf was built over 100 years ago by the local Count Borelli, serving both as a fishery and as a small vessel port. The wharf is used by the local fishermen during the winter, and by Gusars and tourists during the summer.
Also known as St. Phillip and Jacob camps, AdriaPolo Academy camps have many years of experience of working with all age groups of water polo players, both male and female. AdriaPolo camps boast one of the highest participation rate amongst water polo camps in Croatia and the highest level of expertise of water polo coaches, including such expert coaches and internationally known players as Ivo Tucak, Deni Lušić, Mate Jurčević, Juraj Cirković, Mirsad Zajmović, Slavko Letica, and Predrag Majica, together owners of an impressive collection of Olympic Games, world and euro championship medals.
